Playindies

After working on the Yahoo redesign I started getting calls from companies very similar to Yahoo, like Brazil’s Terra, all after the same thing; a redesign of the their network with a focus on getting rid of the clutter. At the time, this being the Fall of 07, there also seemed to be a real resurgence of start ups. PlayIndies was sort of a combination of the two. The Vancouver based company had been trying to launch their community site for indie film and music makers for a few years but weren’t happy with the design. The early site looked cramped and claustrophobic, very dark and with real layout inconsistencies. We took what we had learned working with Yahoo and MyYahoo - not getting discouraged early on by the enormity and complexity of the project - and focused on finding the system and coming up with an appropriate look and feel.  (The beautiful illustration on screen 2 was done by Joshua Davis)
